GOVERNMENT SHELTERHOME MAKEOVER FOR NGO-ZERO GRAVITY in Katol area, Nagpur
This shelter home that houses about 100 girls who were abandoned for various reasons such as poverty, rape and negligence was in utter dismiss. The NGO, Zero Gravity run by Dr. Shrikant Jichkar foundation felt it important to address this issue of housing. Housing plays a very important role for a child’s development. A good housing not only supports in a child’s overall wellbeing but in his education in many different ways which we only realised when we did this project.
The site was a good 3000 sq.ft. building with a central courtyard yet with no access to a qualitative living. That’s where our role began. With a vision oriented design that not only satisfies their basic, unfulfilled requirement but also give a character to the space worthy of living, cheering and development we made sure we do it in a restricted budget. Now the shelter is full of hope and positive energy with lots of light, colour and empowered and happy kids.
