PAPILLON- THE BREW GARDEN

A TROPICAL HAVEN

Papillon- The Brew Garden is a tropical garden cafe designed by Ar. Samruddhi S Chaphale, Principal at Sam’s Drafting Board in Nagpur. Situated near Nagpur Airport, this property is designed in a 10000 sq.ft. open plot which meant it could have become any design. However, the architect has a deeper understanding of what to offer and went on to design very organically drawing inspiration from natural forms and created this lush green garden cafe in the shape of a butterfly not just physically but through the various experiences that this place has to offer. The name of the café, Papillon, meaning a French Butterfly, thus emerged as the place has this free spirit and form of a butterfly and offers beautiful surprises through its design. Here, sensitivity in design played a key role. The lines, levels, form development, transitions, negative – positive balance created a language that spoke for itself. The roof design is my version of half wing of a butterfly.

Different seating styles such as curved garden seating, tree seating with tables arranged around tree kattas, long table seating for big fat groups, a sunken tukdi flooring court with vibrant tiled flooring, an AC room circular shaped café that is summary and elegant with usage of recycled glass bottle walls, cane furniture and beautiful wall art, the Baithak seating along the Bar is a Moroccan style low seating, the deck lounging area along the water body summarizes the overall design. Also don’t miss out on the organic shaped cobbled walkway covered with a wooden pergola that leads you to the entire property. Some of the key design elements include greenery, organic planning and flooring patterns, use of recycled and reclaimed materials, natural textures of wood, bamboo, slate and cane, craftsmanship in the form of organic design, structural design, furniture design, light fitting design and artwork.
