The B.A.W.A. CAFÉ, NAGPUR

Nagpur

The B.A.W.A. CAFÉ in Civil lines, Nagpur was an authentic Parsi restaurant, made in an old and tiny 850 sq.ft. apartment which needed lot of alterations in terms of planning and structure in order to accommodate various seating areas and to cater to 60 pax.

What we have tried to offer in a small area is beautiful garden like outdoors, a semi-open terrace and two indoor spaces that are well connected. People thus enjoy different zones of seating and wish to come very often.  A lot of attention is given to tiny details in order to bring in that old school charm. What you will find is wonderful arches, intricate carvings and moulds, to rough textured cream walls filled with lots of photo frames, authentic wall arts, heritage tiles, old furniture and antiques restored since years. The design was made to capture the Parsi home feel. It has captured the roots of their culture and brings in that wholesome experience. The outdoors are evergreen and soulful with an organic pathway that leads you to various seating areas. What you will also find interesting are a lot of reused elements such as the old bathtub now becomes a fish pond, old liquor bottles used to create wall and some tin cans that house a lot of plants!
