The CORE is a 2500 sq. ft. gym, spa and salon at Hotel Centrepoint, Ramdaspeth, Nagpur. Our design proposition was to create two different vocabularies for the gym and spa respectively yet bind it with greenery as both the activities are under one roof. One of an interesting freelancing projects to work upon, what we aimed was to create a zen like experience for the spa, with rustic furniture and tiles, meditative wall art, exposed wall textures and a lot of greens. The lighting played a very important role as part of our design. The false ceiling design for all the spa rooms was a very interesting feature which was a hat shaped roof from where we would fall creepers with indirect lighting in order to make the experience close to nature. The gym is an exposed concrete hub yet it has creepers hanging from the ceiling that makes it a part of the overall zen experience! What we have tried to experiment over here, is the expose concrete long wash basins that are cantilevered straight from the wall. Industrial light fittings compliment the exposed concrete walls and a motivating wall art balances the overall composition. The cardio section faces an abundance of green through vast panes of glass.
