Hi, I am Samruddhi, founder @ Sam's Drafting Board! I am here to help you
Design your Dreams! With knockout design and strategy.
I have great passion for design and all of it comes from a process, a conceptual mood board followed by detailing and experimentation.
About SDB
Sam’s Drafting Board (SDB) is an architecture, planning and interior design practice that believes in a strong concept led by Ar. Samruddhi S Chaphale. We aim at providing design solutions that have a significant story line drawing its inspiration by careful Observation, Exploration and Research.
Experimental in approach, we at SDB, love to try something new. Our design philosophy is ‘elementary’ that allows to stay rooted and ‘form follows fiction’ which drives us to create things out of the box.
It is thus an exercise to bind the two and give a balanced output. Also we like to reel our design around nature and less superficiality.
Our favourite design quote is that of Pablo Picasso. It says ‘Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up’!
It gives us a lot of motivation!

Architecture Design
We believe in scripting stories. Our design solutions are eccentric to context and culture. We nurture breathable designs, ones that take care of the inside-outside connectivity. Our architecture displays innovation in design and construction technology, weaving craft and building materials, and is driven towards transforming how you see the built within the frame of context and story aiming timelessness.

Interior Design
In the market today that is filled with ready-made prototypes, we tend to experiment and detail out elements on our own. Our approach is sincerely hands-on and arty! We derive our own conceptual strategy and push our creative boundaries to make thought-provoking designs.

Master Planning
Our planning strategies involve various studies of topography, climate, context and scale and therefore derive solutions and plan form that reflects our holistic approach in design aiming towards sustainability, livability and user experience. Our designs are interactive and organic in approach and are therefore capable of harmonizing the people, functionality and its surrounding environment.

A lot of things here at La Selva are tailor-made especially for us, even the fittings of the bathrooms, tissue holders, even the chandeliers she has designed. I want to really thank her for that.
I was thinking of a different design, but when we saw this property, Samruddhi described it to be boomerang in shape, cosy and lush. During our initial site visit itself she imagined it had to be A-frames, dense with wooden interiors that look like cosy chalets. And that’s the beauty of her design that you can witness here. We decided that all our Huts will be camouflaged in the forest area and then there is this one surprise open space which leads to the farm so that is where we purposefully marked the raised swimming pool. Raising the pool was a very good design decision that Samruddhi made that perfectly sat in the context offering infinite views in true sense and the ramp is looking lovely.
We ourselves marked all the blocks with the site plan she had made such that no trees were cut. Samruddhi is also very particular that everyone should be able to access. So uh if some handicap is there yeah so the wheelchair should go up so she designed a ramp yeah. So everyone can enjoy the food and music now and it is very easy to climb right now anyone can climb. From the old age people and everything we have ensured that even if our Cottages are stilted there are one or two which are not so stilted so if any old age person is coming and yeah for youngsters, travellers and photographers there’s dormitory and other cottages, couple’s suit which I m sure they will like as well.
Even for naming the resort, we were thinking something on the lines of forest. Samruddhi suggested not to go for direct names like those of tigers but something that matches the theme of the project and the nature that’s our USP. We thus named it La Selva, Selva meaning forest in Spanish representing our Spanish looking Cottages.
Everyone has started liking the place already. My association with Samruddhi has been since many years and we plan to work on more projects with her in the future.

My experience with Samruddhi was truly beautiful, as she is so passionate about her creations—especially the work she did for my son’s restaurants, The B.A.W.A., in Nagpur and Pune. She’s extremely meticulous (sometimes painfully so), but her passion for work is admirable. Since her name is attached to the creations, she is exceptionally cautious and detail-oriented.
I am particularly happy that our family’s farmhouse has also been designed by her. It’s been created using 100-year-old teak doors, old Italian tiles, and wrought iron grills and bannisters made of old Burma teak.
She was careful not to make a single mistake and would spend entire days with me at the site, often eating basic, traditional Indian home-cooked meals. We always made sure to stop at a wayside restaurant for a quick snack and pick up Samruddhi’s favorite Haldiram’s snack, without which we never made the trip.
I want her to finish the farmhouse with the curtains and final touches, and be our first guest—along with her sisters and mother—before we open it for Airbnb.
Samruddhi, you will rise very high. Best wishes for a successful career.

“We have got a chance to see Samruddhi grow since her childhood into this passionate entrepreneurial girl who explores her creativity to the fullest. From a student in our school to working on designing our new building interiors she has come a long way. Samruddhi is a strong and a very hard working girl who believes in her own power as an architect and is always in the pursuit of knowledge that she can gain and learn from things, people or places . She is always drawing inspiration from unusual and unique things.
Her creative thinking ability is absolutely out of the box and she always ends up doing something unconventional. Her ability to understand clients needs and design according to their utility is something very rare to find in architects these days. She always delivers in time , her follow up is strong , she gives the vision very clearly to the client and her ability to connect with the on site team is something very appreciable.
She doesn’t loss her compassionate side in a field that is so competitive and work constantly on timelines. She is always ready to learn and improve , be it from client feed back or a labor who has got something to say. This makes her more of a leader on site who can get things done in the right way.
Samruddhi is always ready to experiment new things and cross barriers that the field has set so far. She has created her own niche today as an architect at such a young age it makes us very proud to see her grow into this powerful young women who knows what she’s capable of. Samrudhi’s creative potential is limitless.”
